About the Author
In my first book, The Welfare State: No Mercy For the Middle Class, I explored how government taxes and regulations are making life miserable for average Americans. In that book, I touched on how government-controlled public schools and school taxes hurt parents and children.
However, I knew that the subject of education and public schools required a much fuller treatment. That is why I wrote my second book, Public Schools, Public Menace. I also wrote this book because I happen to love kids. I love their bright, creative, spontaneous minds and energy. After doing research for this book, I was appalled and frightened at how badly public schools can hurt our children. These schools can cripple childrens' spirit, their love of learning, their ability to read, and teach them values that many parents despise.
I did not want to stand by and watch this happen anymore. It is a moral outrage that local governments control our children's minds and education. Parents have the natural and inalienable right to control their kids' education, as they did for hundreds of years before public schools came along. I did not want to see generation after generation of more children, millions and millions of innocent children, have their minds and spirits crippled by these schools. There is nothing more precious than our children. My book tries to defend them.
The only way I could do this is to show parents how dangerous, and how much a complete waste of time these schools can be. I also had to show parents all the wonderful education alternatives they can take advantage of right now if they take their children out of public school.
As of this writing, I am 60 years old. I am sorry to say that, like many people, I have wasted too many years of my life. The older I get, the shorter time gets and the more precious time becomes. I do not want our children to waste the best 12 years of their lives in government educational mini-prisons called public schools. I do not want children to regret, like I do now, all the time they might waste in life because public schools wrecked their love of learning, their ambition, and their self-confidence.
In my 60 years, I have done many things besides writing books. I was trained in psychology and got a degree in Architecture. I had my own small consulting business for 15 years. After I sold my business, I decided to pursue my real love, writing and analyzing political and education issues that affect our lives.
I am a libertarian to the core, which means I treasure our personal liberty and individual rights above all else. That is the miraculous gift our Founding Fathers gave us. If we don't preserve our precious liberties, America as we know it will be lost, and our children will suffer greatly. I hope my books help my readers realize that without liberty, we have no real security. I also hope my new book shows parents that a free-market education system with no government controls can give our children a far better, quicker, and more enriching education than any government-controlled system ever could.
