Socialization and environment are two of my main reasons for home schooling. If anyone should be pressed to prove themselves on the issue of quality socialization, it should be public schools, not home schools.

Public school didn\’t turn me into a social butterfly. But, there were many ways that it hampered me socially with peer pressure, superficial competition, and other negative influences.

Another specific reason I choose to teach my daughter at home is because of my own memories of unnecessary and shocking practices of the public school system.

I clearly remember two explicit videos that were shown in high school. One was of a woman giving birth.

What teenage boy (or any teen for that matter, who by the way already has a difficult time taking sexual topics seriously) has any business seeing “the business” of a woman, and of a close up of her giving birth at that!

Years later, I have had a baby of my own, with zero help from child-birth videos. You don\’t need to witness a baby being delivered to have a baby yourself. And, there is nothing wrong with a man seeing child-birth for the first time as he watches his own child be delivered.

The only thing that video did was exploit women and provide a venue for boys to gawk at a woman\’s (supposed to be) private area. I remember feeling embarrassed, disgraced, and angry.

Another incident was a video shown on a typical day in the classroom involving a scene of a cave man aggressively and forcefully “having his way” with a cave woman.

First of all, real science shows that people used to be smarter, not dumber. Second, these videos were needless and inappropriate material in any setting. Third, I doubt my parents were informed. And, it doesn\’t end there.

But it will end here, with my daughter and her real, quality education provided by those who love and cherish her, her parents!

I never thought I could hate school more than what I did when I was in school but I was proved wrong. When my son entered school, my hate for public schools reached a new high level.

He was in Kindergarten and the school was obsessed with meaningless parties. They had parties even when it wasn\’t a holiday. They constantly fed the students and they didn\’t notify the parents of what they were giving their kids. One day, they gave this one kid something he was allergic to. They had his allergic form in the classroom but didn\’t bother to look. But there is no way you can keep up with allergic information for 17 kids anyway. They had an overnight sleep over in the classroom on a school night. The teacher put glitter in their hair for some Saint Patrick\’s party they were having. My son\’s scalp started to get irritated and itch. No matter how much I washed his hair and scrubbed, it wouldn\’t come out. I let the teacher know and asked her not to use that again and immediately she got in my face and started being sarcastic with me. In a meeting with parents, the teacher told the parents that if a child needs to be absent from school, to have them be in the classroom for attendance then they can be signed out of school. This is all because the school gets money for each kid sitting in their class. The teacher started to tell me that my son was having behavior problems in class. I was questioning problems and home also. When I let his doctor know that the teacher was having problems also, he gave me a questionnaire for her to fill out to try to find out how to help my son. I gave the questionnaire to the teacher and she lied about everything.

In first grade, my son\’s teacher had 14 volunteer parents and was begging for more. She told me I could get a babysitter for my baby and come volunteer. She had the volunteer parents (who are uneducated) grade class assignments. I looked at my son\’s assignment and noticed that every question was incorrect but the paper was stamped with a “good job.” I noticed many papers coming home that were incomplete and the teacher never made him finish it. He wasn\’t writing his letters correctly or correctly on the line and she never showed him the right way or made him do it the right way.

I hightly recommend for every child to never even step foot in a public school. They are a waste of time. The only thing they are good for are parent\’s who don\’t care about a good education for their children and just want a free babysitter.
