Obama simply cannot be trusted: breaks word to meet with any legislator with questions

According to Democrats, you can’t really take Barack Obama at his word when it comes to promises he made in public to meet with any legislator who has concerns about health care.  Here is what The Hill reported about Obama’s pledges:

“If you come to me with a serious set of proposals, I will be there to listen. My door is always open,” Obama said to a Joint Session of Congress on Sept. 9. In late July he told participants of a townhall meeting in Raleigh, N.C., that he would “be available” to “go over line-by-line what’s going on (with the bill)” to any lawmaker with questions or concerns.

Several Republican lawmakers actually thought that Obama meant what he said and requested to meet with the President.  But, their requests have been denied.  Those lawmakers, Republicans, are doctors who have experience in the health care system.

Barney Frank was glad that Obama had broken his word, and said that the GOP didn’t deserve to meet with the President.  Another Democrat admonished the Republicans to "grow up", and said that no one took Obama literally.

All of which begs the question: If Obama can’t be trusted to keep his word on something as simple as merely meeting with any legislator who had questions or concerns about health care, how can he be trusted to keep his word on anything else regarding health care?  It is striking that the Democrats don’t seem to care that their leader is this disingenuos and are making excuses for his breach of honor. The fact is, Obama has no intention of being honest with Republican legislators or Americans about health care.
