Conservatve Leaders Speak Out Against Obama’s Apology Tour

Posted by: admin In: The American Spectator

MEMO FOR THE MOVEMENT

Obama continues his Apology and Appeasement Tour-

with a stop at the United Nations

RE:

Having declared himself a “citizen of the world,” President Obama
has apologized to the rest of the world for the perceived
transgressions of Americans with whom he does not agree, and has
broken agreements with our friends in order to curry favor with
our adversaries. President Obama now proceeds to the chair of the
United Nations Security Council to continue his path of
appeasement and violation of the canons of statecraft.

ACTION:
We urge you to contact your elected officials and the White House
and remind them that it is their responsibility to promote
America’s national interest on the world-stage rather than engage
in futile flattery and apology to other nations. We are very
disappointed by our Commander-in-Chief’s words and actions that
have discredited America.

ISSUE-IN-BRIEF:

Specifically, we submit that President Obama and his
Administration have been derelict in the exercise of foreign
policy, diplomacy, and statecraft as follows:

1. Trying to appease enemies at the expense of friends.

a. Obama’s attempt to “reset” relations with Russia has consisted
of helping Vladimir Putin attain his goal of re-establishing the
old Soviet Empire, and signaling to Eastern Europe that we will
not let their interests stand in the way of appeasing Russia. The
U.S. has quietly withdrawn support from Georgia; has let Ukraine
know that it can no longer count on U.S. support; and has
withdrawn our agreement to place anti-missile equipment in the
Czech Republic and Poland.

b. Obama’s attempts to pressure Israel to stop building
settlements on the West Bank in the hopes that the Saudis will
engage in “land for peace” negotiations have been summarily
rejected by the Saudis.

c. Obama has removed our opposition to Syria’s resumption of
control over Lebanon through Hezbollah, and exerted pressure on
Israel to surrender the Golan Heights, hoping to gain diplomatic
points with Syria.

d. Obama has insisted that Honduras’ removal of its President for
violation of the Honduran Constitution was a “military coup” and
has withdrawn aid and support for the Honduran Government in
favor of the demands of Hugo Chavez and other Latin American
authoritarian leftists.

2. Choosing to engage in diplomacy at the UN over issues of
climate change rather than promote America’s security and
economic interests.

3. Exercising Diplomatic Malpractice by pursuing international
negotiations as ends in themselves.

a. Obama has attempted to restart Arab-Israeli peace negotiations
by pressing Israel to make preemptive concessions just to get a
seat at the table, but with no results whatsoever.

b. Obama claimed success when Iran agreed to face-to-face
negotiations, even though Iran rejected the possibility of any
discussions about its nuclear program, which was the purpose of
the negotiations in the first place

4. Using meaningless and empty words and phrases which diminish
the credibility of the United States.

a. Responding to North Korea’s launch of a missile in violation
of UN resolutions, Obama said “rules must be binding, violations
must be punished, words must mean something.” But there has been
no punishment, no action, and no further discussion about what he
was talking about.

b. In his speech to the Muslim world in June, he called for a
“new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the
world.” Yet, there has been no explanation of how such a thing
might occur. He urged Muslims to “abandon violence” as if his
saying so will stop a centuries-long tradition.

5. By apologizing for the sins of domestic political opponents,
Obama is telling the world that he represents only part of his
country instead of all Americans, and makes it known that he is
playing partisan politics on the international stage. The result
is disrespect from world leaders and a cheapening of America’s
reputation in the world. In the following instances, the
president has offered unwarranted apologies on behalf of the
American people:

Jan. 26: “All too often the United States starts by dictating …
and we don’t always know all the factors that are involved. So
let’s listen. And I think if we do that, then there’s a
possibility at least of achieving some breakthroughs. … My job
to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not
your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been
perfect.”
— President Obama, in an interview with Al Arabiya

April 2: “I would like to think that with my election and the
early decisions that we’ve made, that you’re starting to see some
restoration of America’s standing in the world.”
— President Obama, at G20 summit in London

April 3: ” (Speaking about Europe) Instead of celebrating your
dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common
challenges, there have been times where America has shown
arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

— President Obama, speaking of his nation at a town hall in
France

April 5: “I know that the trust that binds us has been strained
and I know that strain is shared in many places where the Muslim
faith is practiced. Let me say this as clearly as I can: The
United States is not at war with Islam.”

— President Obama speaking in Turkey
