   Only idiots like Wiener/Savage would see a need for such a rabid organization as HUAC today — a committee that frothed at the mouth to ruin the careers of hundreds of individuals accused by Senator Joe McCarthy of being even faintly sympathetic to communism — never a meaningful threat in America — where basic freedoms have always held sway.

   McCarthy and his few supporters were eventually discredited and disgraced — his own political life in shambles. He died not long after.

   Savage, ugly in both appearance and thought, would accuse his own mother of communism (or any other nasty insinuation) if it would bring attention to himself.
