Other than learning how to read, which my mother could have taught me, I think that my twelve years in public school were an obscene waste of time. Most of the subjects I had to study bored me to death.
Also, not ONCE did any teacher, guidance counselor, or other school official sit down with me to help me figure out what subjects I might like, what careers I might pursue that fitted my talents, or what the consequences of my career choices might be in making a living.
So I had NO idea what I wanted to do with my life, what I wanted to study, after 12 years of public school. So what did I do? I went to college for another four years of this same nonsense. I picked a major of Psychology in college, because again, the school offered no guidance on careers, making a living, etc.
So these schools, in effect, made me waste the best 16 years of my life, and when I came out of high school, and then college, I STILL didn\’t know what I wanted to do with my life.
Is there anything more precious to us than our time. I can\’t think of a greater horror about the public schools than that they make MILLIONS of students hate learning, waste 12 years of their lives, and give them no guidance about what to do with their lives once they \’graduate\’. This is a great crime of our public schools
